my wife and i were longtime jws.

i was an elder for over 25 years and we had two stints of pioneering totally 14 years.

My husband MISSED the meeting today! Unheard of!

he decided to take me somewhere nice in the country for a day instead, and when he suggested it last night i was amazed that he would have even thought of missing the meeting!

he was one of those guys who only missed a meeting, literally, if he had a spinal injury and couldn't move!.

but, i've been sharing a little of the ttatt with him, teensy tiny bits that i can substantiate from the bible or other reputable sources.

anyone else get really mad sometimes about the fact that we missed out on proms, dances, sports games, being in sports, being in band, being in clubs, or going to college, or even getting good grades since armageddon was always "right around the corner"?

even if i went to college this year (at age 28), i'd be 10 years behind everyone my age!

i'm still going to go back but i feel so upset sometimes how far behind my peers i am in just about everything, including in the working world, where i am an entry-level employee with only a high school diploma (thankfully i didn't quit school to pioneer!!

I feel a lot of sadness and regret over what I gave up, although I was an adult when I became a witness so I got to experience my own childhood and adolescence without borg influence. My husband and I started studying while I was pregnant with our first baby, and we stayed in until our youngest was 4. I gave up 13 Christmas celebrations, 26 of my children's birthdays, normal relationships with our non-witness family members. Our choices cost my father in law the chance to celebrate even one Christmas or birthday with his grandchildren. He died before we left the Borg. I know it was my own fault, I'm not blaming anyone else. I feel a lot of guilt over what my choices cost my children and my non-witness family members.

In All Honesty Would You Have NOT Given Blood To Your Child If He or She Needed it?

as a "faithful witness", i never had to deal with this on a personal level.

i imagine the pressure must be extreme with the elders and others "supporting" you to do the right thing.. do you think you would have given blood to your family member, especially your child if you were in that situation..

I don't knwo what I would have done had the situation actually happened to me. I hope that I would have had the good sense to allow a transfusion for my kids or my husband or myself, but I was pretty deep in the koolaid for a while. I am so glad I don't have to worry about that anymore.

My Left Leg Was Amputated

i have been out of commission for several weeks.

back around the first of the year i developed an infection in my left foot.

due to diabetes and poor circulation the doctors were unable to save my foot and so i received a below the knee amputation.

I wish you a speedy recovery! One of Just Ron's uncles had a full leg amputation and he was able to learn to use the prosthetic pretty quickly.

so i have a dog, zoey that likes to tattle on the others, even humans.

Crazy public talk last Sunday: The Origin of Humans - Does It Matter What You Believe?

from the congregation that brought you these watchtower comments, i thought you would enjoy some selected quotes from the public talk we had last sunday from the crazy talk outline: "the origin of humansdoes it matter what you believe?".

it's amazing this talk outline is still allowed - some of the material is hilarious, and the arguments are so wild and misrepresented.

i still have the audio file if you can bear to listen to it, i could pm you a link.

so the barbarism and torture commited by the Assyrians against the people they conquered isn't as bad as the violence and bloodshed we see today? I don't know about the rest of you, but I'd rather live here in the USA today than in medieval Spain (anyone remember the Inquisition?). I think the case could be made that in large parts of the world today, there is substantially less violence than there was pre-1850.

they do not do a good job of exploring why different people stop going to the meetings and make any improvements.. this is a quote from another topic.

it reminds me of the may 15 2012 study article about marry only in the lord, p 4 para7.

they are not trying to improve their product (the people).

My aunt worked for a Pepsi bottling company. They would get mad if employees bought Coke products for home use. God forbid anyone bring a Coke product to the office - they'd probably have fired the employee. Visitors to the office were required to throw away any non-Pepsi products they brought with them. I know that sounds crazy, but it happened to me when I went there.
